Robert’s was founded in the 1950’s in downtown Marietta by Robert Ley Sr. The family operated men’s clothing store expanded into multiple locations during the late 60’s to early 70’s. Robert’s son Michael Ley opened the existing New Philadelphia store in 1973. This downtown store with 4000 square feet of selling floor was quickly expanded into the next door building for a total of 6000 square feet. In 1993 Michael’s son Aaron started in the family business after graduating from Bowling Green State University.

In 1994 Robert’s Screenprinting & Embroidery entered the uniform and embroidery business focusing primarily on corporate logo embroidery. Robert’s offers a 400 page full-color apparel catalog with over 6000 products. “Unhappy with the 4 week turnaround we were receiving from the outside sources we purchased our own embroidery equipment in 1995”, says Aaron Ley President of Robert’s. Robert’s now offers a standard 2 week turnaround and under most circumstances are able to deliver in 10 days. “We are always happy to help with rush orders if you have a special occasion or an event. Our top priority has always been customer satisfaction and it remains that way today.”

In 2002 Robert’s entered the Medical Uniform business upon request of a local hospital to provide a uniform show at their facility. In conjunction with the first on-site uniform sale Robert’s converted 2000 square feet of their selling floor to the Medical Uniforms business and remodeled the exterior of the building highlighting the uniform business. In 2005 Robert’s Medical Uniforms and Robert’s Screenprinting & Embroidery moved to a new distribution facility allowing for the expansion of these rapidly growing parts of the business, while the retail operation remained in Downtown New Philadelphia. Robert’s Medical Uniforms now has three crews that cover Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia hosting on-site uniform sales at hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, surgery centers and clinics.

In August of 2009 Robert's Medical Uniforms and Robert's Embroidery & Screenprinting expanded its retail operations by moving into its present location at 710 Boulevard in Dover Ohio. "We are very excited about the new retail store. We are now able to offer a much larger selection of brands and sizes making us the most well rounded uniform store in the state. If you haven't been to a store it is definately worth the trip." says Aaron

Robert’s prides itself in being able to handle all apparel and marketing materials for their customers. In order to maintain the highest level of service Robert’s continues to update embroidery equipment; most recently in 2007. “This industry has made some outstanding advances.
